## Number Line Maker: create exact horizontal number lines

Number Line Maker is Vexplot's free browser-based tool for worksheets, lessons, practice questions, tests, and classroom slides. Create a number line with whole numbers, decimals, or fractions, then export a clean SVG or PNG image. No account is required.

## Range and value formats

Set the minimum, maximum, and step with integer, decimal, or fraction inputs. Tick arithmetic stays exact: a step of 1/3 remains a fraction instead of accumulating decimal rounding error. A number line supports up to 41 generated ticks.

Choose Auto for a suitable display format, Decimal for controlled precision, Fraction for stacked fractions, or Mixed Number for improper values shown with a whole-number part. Fraction notation can be simplified or left unsimplified for equivalent-fraction exercises. Whole numbers remain whole numbers rather than fractions over one.

## Appearance and individual ticks

Control tick spacing and length, axis and tick colours, widths and line styles, independent left and right arrowheads, value visibility and position, font styling, background, and canvas padding. The SVG preview updates as you edit.

Select an individual tick to hide its numeric value, add a custom label such as ?, x, A, B, or C, or place its label above or below the line. A custom label can remain visible when the numeric value is hidden. These controls support missing-value questions and marked-point exercises.

## Export and Library

Export as SVG for scalable print and editing, or PNG for slides, worksheets, documents, and online lessons. PNG export offers multiple scale options. Transparent export is available. Exported graphics match the preview without editor-only selection outlines.

Save multiple editable number-line documents in the browser-local Vexplot Library and reopen them later. Library edits are saved locally. Download a portable .vexplot project file when you want an independent editable copy or need to move a project to another browser. There is no account, backend document storage, or cloud sync; the Library should not be treated as a permanent backup.
